A good cover letter for a work-study placement is essentially based on its content. Certain elements, such as the form of the letter, should be respected and will improve your application. Your letter must therefore include the following elements:
- your name, address and contact details so that the company you are applying to can easily contact you;
- the name and address of the company to which you are applying for a work-linked training placement;
- the subject of your letter, in which you obviously mention that you are looking for a work-linked training placement;
- the body of the text in which you set out your motivations and background;
- a closing formula, mentioning that you hope for a favourable response.

Do you want your apprenticeship cover letter to be engaging and relevant? It’s all about how you structure it and the words you choose.
- Start your letter with a brief introduction to your request to put it into context.
- continue with a short paragraph explaining your career path, trying to subtly showcase your qualities and experience.
- Then add a paragraph explaining what you can bring to the company and why they should hire you.
- end your letter with a formal salutation.
Is it necessary to have my apprenticeship cover letter proofread?
Even if you are sure of yourself and your letter, it is generally recommended that you have it proofread. You may have omitted certain mistakes. However, make sure you choose the person who is going to proofread it. They should be better or at least as good as you are at writing.
When should you apply for an apprenticeship?
Are you really determined and motivated to begin an apprenticeship? Do everything you can to see your professional project come to fruition.
