Our school and the École Supérieure d’Etudes Supérieur des Foreignes Trade convened the first Confucius Institute Board of Directors meeting

On January 16, the first board meeting of the Confucius Institute, jointly established by our university and the ESCE International Business School in France, was held via online video conference. Wang Shaojun, the Party Secretary of our university and Chinese Director of the Board, and Christophe Boisso, President of the ESCE International Business School and French Director of the Board, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Zhang Hongxia, Vice President of our university and Chinese board member. Board members from both sides were present.

Wang Shaojun expressed his gratitude to President Christophe Boisso for his long-standing support of our university. He noted that since the two institutions established a friendly relationship, they have engaged in substantial cooperation in areas such as student exchanges and faculty visits. The establishment of the Confucius Institute marks the beginning of a new chapter in the cooperation between the two institutions. He expressed hope that the two universities would use the Confucius Institute as a platform to engage in comprehensive cooperation in areas such as language and cultural exchange, joint student training, the construction of teaching and research platforms, and the integration of industry and education, thereby promoting high-quality development for both universities. This will contribute the wisdom and strength of both institutions to enhance mutual learning between Chinese and French civilizations, educational exchanges, and to foster closer ties between the people of both nations.

Christophe Boisseau thanked our university for its persistent efforts in the application and construction of the Confucius Institute. He emphasized that the ESCE International Business School greatly values its partnership with our university and is full of confidence about the cooperation between the two schools. He pointed out that the long-standing collaboration between the two institutions has laid a solid foundation, and he and his team will take the establishment of the Confucius Institute as an opportunity to integrate the school’s resources, work alongside our university, and support the development of the Confucius Institute. Together, they aim to further explore the potential of this partnership, expand areas of cooperation, and achieve mutual benefits.

During the meeting, the directors from both sides announced the appointment of the Chinese and French deans of the Confucius Institute. All members of the board reviewed and approved the development proposals for the Confucius Institute.

The Confucius Institute at the ESCE International Business School is the first Confucius Institute established by our university, and it is also the first business-oriented Confucius Institute set up abroad in our province. The successful convening of this board meeting has provided a clear direction for the future development of our Confucius Institute, marking a new phase in its construction. Both institutions will leverage their respective academic strengths to conduct comprehensive and in-depth collaboration, writing a new chapter of development.
